Course Content

This apprenticeship covers the following modules:

Developing Professional Practice

Enables the apprentice to develop a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by HR professionals working at this level. Apprentices self-assess against these standards to create their development plan and achieve the desired result.

Business Issues and the Context of HR

The apprentice examines HR’s role in business strategy formulation and implementation, and explores in-depth how HR contributes to the strategy.

Using Information in HR

The apprentice identifies the data available to HR and examines how they can use this data to influence change. The apprentice then develops the skills they need to present business cases for HR improvements.

Resourcing & Talent Planning

Introduces the key operational tools, techniques and practices used to resource organisations effectively. This includes recruitment and selection, workforce planning, staff retention, succession planning, retirement and dismissal processes.

Reward Management

Provides the apprentice with a wide understanding of how the business context drives the different reward strategies and policies, so they can present and implement the most effective solution for their organisation.

Contemporary Developments in Employment Relations

Builds on the apprentice’s knowledge and experience to develop the skills required to make informed and effective employment relations judgements

Managing & Co-ordinating the HR Function

Introduces the apprentice to the key roles of HR in a business and how HR can be structured and developed to deliver these for the business.

Employment Law

The apprentice explores the major areas of employment legislation and the employment law system, including ways in which day-to-day HR activities are subjected to regulation.

Developing & Using Consultancy Skills

Apprentices develop their understanding of the nature of consultancy and related concepts, different consultancy roles and the key stages in the consulting process. They explore the skills and techniques required to be effective in an HR consultant role, so they can work with the business to address an HR business need and agree a solution through to evaluation and closure. At the end, they are able to confidently provide customised HR solutions to meet the needs of different business clients.

Recommending Business Improvement through HR Practice

Teaches the apprentice to understand and analyse the concept of organisational development and how it contributes to major organisational change. They develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to function effectively as an Organisational Development practitioner within HR, which enables them to undertake the work-related project required for the End Point Assessment.

Preparation for End Assessment

The apprentice receives individual personal support to ensure their readiness for End Point Assessment. The final two learning modules, as listed above, help the apprentice hone the key skills they need to undertake the End Point successfully.
