Running your own business

This course covers everything a new business owner should know. It is equally suitable for budding entrepreneurs and those who already have a small business up and running. The course content is designed to be entertaining as well as informative, with examples from Dragons Den and real-life stories of successful (and less successful) start-ups from the UK and around the world. There will be a range of activities to teach you the realities of running your own business and generating revenue quickly with minimal up-front risk. The course will consist of six sessions broadly covering the following topics: Evaluating your ideas, Getting started, using the web, Legal and tax, growing your own business. By the end of the course you will be able to - objectively evaluate and improve your business ideas - make a business plan - minimising upfront costs and generating startup capital - make informed decisions on taking on colleagues, partners and freelancers - effectively use the web to boost your business - choose the best company structure for your business - publicise and grow your business - manage the expansion of your business and dealing with fast growth
