Course description
Acid attacks are becoming increasingly common and politicians have talked 'tough' about trying to eradicate this type of behaviour. But what does the law say about such attacks? This short webinar will guide you through the relevant legislation and will also consider Criminal Behaviour Orders (formerly ASBOs) and the current law.
Topics covered will include the law governing acid under the Poisons Act 1972; what the law is in relation to Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO) and whether a CBO can be given on its own. The 2-stage test for a CBO being imposed will be examined, together with what the minimum and maximum terms for imposing one are.
Presenter Clive Smith spent 10 years in chambers in London practising criminal law and has extensive experience in the youth court, so is well-placed to offer guidance and insight on this topic.
