Course description

Sibling relationships are enduring and significant, often lasting a lifetime. Professor Daniel Monk's Nuffield research underscores the importance of sibling assessments in care proceedings, which have become standard practice but vary in quality.

Sibling groups introduce complexities in care proceedings, especially when adoption is proposed for some but not all siblings. This scenario can create intricate legal challenges that courts must navigate.

The virtual classroom seminar's primary focus is to explore the common issues related to sibling contact in care proceedings and how the courts address them. Participants will gain insights into both best practices and shortcomings in sibling assessments, as well as the court's approach to contact in care and adoption proceedings.

This virtual classroom seminar will explore some of the common issues that arise when considering sibling contact in care proceedings and how the courts deal with them.
