Course description

Fraud is back in the spotlight with the NCA, HMRC and police investigating those who were not legally entitled to Government support during the pandemic.


Presented by popular speaker Olwen Davies, this virtual classroom seminar is aimed at those with a working understanding of the Fraud Act and will ask if the Act is still working and how practitioners can make the most of it. It will also include a recent Court of Appeal interpretation of s4 Fraud Act.


Topics discussed will include the provisions of the Act, cheating HMRC, and conspiracy to defraud. Section 13 privilege against self-incrimination will also be covered, along with commonly used investigatory powers. Restraint and freezing orders will also be covered, along with real life examples, case law and more.
