Course description

Overview

This course comprises six modules which can be taken individually or in combinations, and provides an essential refresher on the application of IFRS Standards (International Financial Reporting Standards). Book the full series or chose individual workshops by clicking the module links below.

It covers the main requirements of extant IFRS Standards (excluding industry specific standards) and provides illustrations and examples throughout to demonstrate the practical application of the standards.

The course includes all standards and other pronouncements that are applicable for accounting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2020.

Module 3: Revenue and expenses

  • Revenue
  • Share-based payments
  • Employee benefits

  • Foreign currency transactions

Module 4: Liabilities and financing

  • Provisions and contingencies
  • Deferred taxation
  • Debt and equity

Module 5: Group accounting and business combinations

  • Status of investments
  • Consolidation requirements and exemptions
  • Accounting for business combinations
  • Associates and joint ventures
  • Foreign subsidiaries

Module 6: Financial instruments

  • Identification of financial instruments
  • Classification and measurement
  • Recognition and derecognition

Dates

In order to provide reflection time, the three days of the full programme will be separated with roughly a week in between each day
