Course description
Professionalism for Engineers
Engineering involves a responsible attitude and approach to society and to the organisations that engineers work for. This course has been developed to support engineers in understanding what it means to act as a professional engineer, and, to recognise what professionalism in practice looks like when working alongside colleagues, customers and the community.
The course considers the basic requirements of Engineering Council and IET principles and rules of conduct to establish the ground rules for acting as a professional engineer. The course then builds on these principles and considers deeper issues such as codes, ethics, governance, risk awareness & risk management, how positive cultures can be influenced and how to undertake the role of professional witnesses as an engineer.
