Course description
Increasing attention is now being paid to the need to improve the staffing of health services to meet the health related Millennium Development Goals and other pressing health needs. Initiatives are being led at a global level, for example, the Global Health Workforce Alliance, and at regional and national level to meet the current challenges of staffing health services - particularly those in underserved areas. People with expertise in human resource planning and management are urgently needed to complement these efforts.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course will interest people already working in human resource planning and management in the health sector or health service managers in middle and low-income countries. Proof of English to IELTS 6.5

Upon successful completion of this programme, delegates will be able to:
- Develop a strategic plan for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the health workforce in a given situation
- Access, adapt and use tools for human resource planning and management
- Review critically and evaluate the planning, management and development of human resources in a health care organisation
- Analyse factors critically that influence the external and internal labour markets relevant to a particular organisation
- Design organisational capacity for managing human resources effectively
