Course description
Recent years have seen an increasing number of applications before the Home Office taking months, if not years, to be concluded.
Protection cases are most gravely affected, with the average waiting being approximately 20 months, but we see lengthy delays in family applications, delays in issuing certificates of sponsorship and in decisions on nationality matters.
Presented by barrister Sandra Akinbolu of 36 Public, this session will examine the options available to those facing delays and will provide a step-by-step guide to challenging such delays. Consideration will also be given to what to do in cases of real urgency.

Introduction
Recent years have seen an increasing number of applications before the Home Office taking months, if not years, to be concluded.
Protection cases are most gravely affected, with the average waiting being approximately 20 months, but we see lengthy delays in family applications, delays in issuing certificates of sponsorship and in decisions on nationality matters.
Recent changes to the immigration system in family and business routes have added to those delays and the protection and trafficking teams are now years behind schedule.
This new virtual classroom seminar will briefly look at the reasons behind the delays and will offer guidance on how to try to avoid adding to the delay.
Presented by expert speaker Sandra Akinbolu of 36 Public, this session will examine the options available to those facing delays and will provide a step-by-step guide to challenging such delays. Consideration will also be given to what to do in cases of real urgency.
