What do we need to pay employees when they take annual leave? What happens if an employee does not take all their leave? Can we cancel an employee’s annual leave? We will answer these, and many more, questions about annual leave.

Expert speaker Professor Kathy Daniels will then look more widely at the protection given to employees by the Working Time Regulations 1998, the reasons behind the Regulations as well as the impact of the law through a mix of practical scenarios and recent case law.

Introduction

Holidays, and holiday pay, have been in the news again, so we will start off this new virtual classroom seminar by looking at this issue following rulings in cases such as Chief Constable of Northern Ireland Police v Agnew and Harpur Trust v Brazel.

We will then move on to look at the amendments made to the Working Time Regulations 1998 on 1 January 2024 and what impact they have on the way that we calculate annual pay and entitlement.
