In response to the increasing demand for trained cargo surveyors in shipping and transport, this Certificate in Cargo Surveying has been designed to provide a solid understanding of how different cargoes are influenced by the movements & dangers associated with transportation.

This 12-week distance learning course aims to provide Participants from across the shipping and logistics sectors with a better understanding of how goods should be packed, treated and conditioned to avoid damage during transport. As the fundamental purpose of cargo surveys is to evaluate the origins, degree and causes of any damage incurred, the programme takes an in-depth look the chactertistics of different types of cargo including bulk, hazardous, deep tank, chemical, liquid, containerised and refrigerated. In addition, it allows Participants to develop a crucial background understanding of the related issues of marine insurance, claims and report writing.

By the end of the course, participants will have developed a solid knowledge of the principles underlying cargo surveying and their application in a wide range of functions and roles. This will provide an ideal launching pad for further studies or a career in this increasingly strategic, growing sector.
