This webinar will provide you with a review of the progress of the implementation of the Children and Families Act, including themes that have arisen during implementation, key issues and trends in recent Tribunal cases with a particular focus on Post-19 support.

It will also provide advice in connection with the continued national trial and evidence and information that may be required to bring successful cases, focusing on local arrangements for Post-19 support and how to make successful arguments in relation to provision for young adults.

Presented by Samantha Hale, a partner at Simpson Millar who is highly regarded for her work on SEN matters, the webinar will also provide a summary of recent key case law in this area.

  • Continued implementation of the national trial in the SEN Tribunal, which allows recommendations around health and care provision as well as educational provision and what issues are likely to arise
  • The Post-19 sector and how EHCPs have been initiated for young people in this age group with ensuing problems, including a focus on cease to maintain decisions relevant to Post-19 provision (Buckinghamshire CC v SJ and B & M v Cheshire East Council)
  • Focus on recent SEN case law
