On our Management and Leadership course, you will study aspects of people, finance, project management and leadership, accountability and good governance.

You can choose to follow the general management route or to specialise in Public Services Management or Lean Management. On these specialist routes your modules will be tailored to deepen your understanding in your chosen area.

What will I study?

All participants can exit the course with a Postgraduate Certificate and/or a Diploma on completion of the stages, or continue a Master's qualification.

You can also attend each module as a short course.

• Certificate: 8 months
• Diploma: 6 months
• Master's: 7 months
• Approximately 21 months for the full MSc award

Routes

There is also a Directed Studies route which will allow you to fast track the course and complete within two years.

How will I learn?

This is a flexible part-time course, designed to keep the time you are out of the business to a minimum.

You will be able to choose between a fast-track delivery where you can study two modules back to back in a six-day study block, or the standard delivery where each module takes three days to complete.

The course incorporates a mix of classroom modules, independent supported learning and a work-based consultancy project.

Entry requirements

This is a staged award and you will need to begin by applying for the Certificate award.

To apply you will ideally be educated to degree level and also have at least two to three years of management experience with your organisation. Applicants without a degree, but with additional significant management experience will also be considered.

In addition, candidates should:

• have the support of their line manager and organisation
• be able to sustain a high level of self-motivation over time and be available to attend taught days and workshops
• be able to manage the demands of balancing work and study
• produce written work of a high standard in terms of presentation and analytical/reflective content
• ensure fees will be paid by their employer or other source e.g. candidate. No qualification can be awarded if fees not paid.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through various pieces of applied coursework. It is the application of the knowledge you have acquired during the course that will enable you to think strategically and bring about change within your organisation. You will complete 20 credit point modules for each stage of the programme, accumulating 180 credit points altogether for a full master's award.
