You will study core subject areas in health and social care to support progression to further learning or the work place.
The mandatory units include:
- Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
- Human growth and development
- Safeguarding and protection in health and social care.
You will be required to undertake work experience for one day a week in a vocationally relevant environment, which may include care homes, special schools and childcare settings. You will also have the opportunity to gain an Emergency First Aid Certificate to enhance your skills and employability. English and maths GCSEs will be studied by learners who have not previously achieved these subjects.
You will have on-going written assessments which are internally assessed. You will attend a work placement for one day per week.
A Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care gives learners the opportunity to gain employment in a range of jobs in the health and social care sector. Previous learners have progressed on to employment as care assistants, health care assistants or work in child care settings. This qualification also supports progression onto various apprenticeships or a full-time Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification.
