The Level 5 Diploma is designed for health and safety practitioners who have the ability and scope to develop, implement, monitor and review policies and procedures in relevant health and safety management matters. Those who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in managing health and safety for the workplace. They will have an autonomous role in their organisation for managing health and safety policy and practice. They will report to or be part of the senior management team. They will recommend and implement changes relevant to their role. They will be aware of the cost implications and budgetary control.
This course is designed to assess and verify knowledge and competence in the application and management of occupational health and safety. Recognised by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health as meeting the academic requirements for graduate membership (Grad IOSH) The level 5 Mandatory units are: Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in health and safety matters Identify, assess and control health and safety risks Develop and implement proactive monitoring systems for health and safety Develop and implement reactive monitoring systems for health and safety Develop and implement health and safety emergency response systems and procedures Develop and implement health and safety review systems Maintain knowledge of improvements to influence health and safety practice Develop and implement the health and safety policy.
Once you have enrolled onto the programme you will be assigned an assessor that will visit you in the workplace regularly. They will complete assessment plans and reviews with you to keep you on target. They will support you in the collection of the required evidence needed for your qualification through different assessment methods such as; professional discussion, observations, written questions, verbal questions, witness statements and any assignments.
This level is ideal if you're responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures day-to-day in your organisation. You may be a staff member, supervisor or manager looking to improve your knowledge and skills.
To earn a qualification, you must complete nine mandatory units, including:
-Promote a positive health and safety culture
-Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information
-Maintain knowledge of improvements to influence health and safety practice.
