Course description

Introduction to Visual Effects

Are you a filmmaker who’d like to build on your knowledge of the post-production process, creating your own visual effects to enhance your productions?

Would you like to enhance the production values of your promotional/training videos?

Or are you interested in learning some of the key VFX techniques used in the production of your favourite films?

Then this is the course for you.

Creatives are increasingly required to have a one-person-band approach to producing their work.

Increasing your software skillset will not only make you more employable but will also open up further creative avenues for you to explore.

The course is almost 100% hands-on practical work with a small amount of supporting technical theory.

On this course you will:

  • explore green screen techniques
  • learn about camera tracking and motion tracking
  • gain skills in compositing, colour matching and colour grading
  • be taught how to export your finished work.

There will be a combination of teaching and learning methods with an emphasis on demonstration, re-creation and experimentation.

What will I gain?

You’ll leave with a sound knowledge and control of key VFX techniques.

The course will open up new creative avenues for you as a media producer, as well as making you more employable by increasing your software skillset.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Level: Beginner

Entry requirement: No experience in After Effects is required but a solid understanding of Adobe Illustrator is essential.
